As reported on March 22, 2016, in the Times Leader, “ST. CLAIRSVILLE City council took another step toward bringing a new senior living facility to St. Clair Commons with the motion to approve a preliminary plat as recommended by the St. Clairsville Planning Commission.” St. Clair Commons is a mixed use site that will accommodate health and wellness, multi-family, office space, retail, and senior living. The senior living facility will include 80 units of assisted living and 20 for independent living on an 11.8 acre site. The next step for the new facility will be a “third and final reading [scheduled for April 4th] to establish a tax increment finance zone to divert real estate taxes to pay for public improvements” at St. Clair Commons. Once fully approved, the project will represent a $14 million investment. The project is expected to take approximately 13 months to complete. Melanie Wollenberg, a Senior Vice President with Equity, is leading the development effort, while Rick Coley of Equity Construction Solutions is the Project Manager.
